800HP 2011 Shelby GT500 a.k.a Super Snake

Entering 2011, Shelby has also prepared for their package, Shelby GT500 version which has 800 horsepower, named “Shelby GT500 Super Snake”. Working with one of the Ford Racing division, Shelby has been successfully upgraded to have the power to 800 hp (597 kW / 811 PS), exceeding version of “Super Snake”earlier in the year 2010.

This 2011 Ford Shelby GT500 will from several premiere at 2011 New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). For the record, back in 1962 for the first time Shelby participated in the event the NYIAS, was also in 1968 and 2008 Shelby GT500KR and introduced in 2006 brought Hertz Shelby GT-H. In addition to the latest Super Snake, Shelby American plan also will feature two limited edition models in 2012 and the Shelby GT350 convertible.

Another news said that, the engine is also much lighter, as quoted from autoevolution, Carroll Shelby, founder of Shelby American said,

“Cutting weight to improve performance is a tradition among hot rodders,”

“It might not be as sexy as adding more horsepower or bigger brakes, but shaving pounds off of a car is the single smartest move you can make.”

There are also variants of other engine options. Starting from a power only 650 hp (492 kw / 669 ps) up to a 750 hp (559 kw / 760 ps), which came out from the previous version. Production with a total 1000 Shelby GT500 Super Snake will be created as a prefix. As plan, the American Shelby Super Snake plans to produce limited edition that is available to customers starting May 1, 2011.
