KTM has officially revealed the X-Bow R to push away new competitors, like the BAC Mono. It claimed that the R is said as a further development of the original model, equipped with an Audi-sourced 2.0-liter TFSI petrol engine that has been completed with a wider turbocharger, high performance fuel injectors and a new ECU. Due to these modifications, the four-cylinder is able to produces 300 PS (220 kW / 295 hp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque compared to the standard X-Bow with 240 PS (177 kW / 237 hp).
Engineers mounted a new torque arm that is directly connected to the carbon monocoque chassis, in order to overcome the extra power. As the result, the X-Bow has significantly improved torsional rigidity and better handling. In addition, the car’s center of gravity has been lowered by 15mm and the suspension has been upgraded with stiffer springs and dampers.
Many things of the KTM X-BOW R have been changed, such as carbon monocoque from its exterior appearance. There are also some improvements found in all other relevant component to achieve the optimal performance.
KTM chose one of the most efficient and powerful engines with a 2.0 liter displacement. The R uses an engine block as it’s already used in Ingolstadt-based Company in the S3 model and which generated up to 265 h.p . The KTM X-BOW R uses reinforced block with bigger turbo. The car is also equipped with an altered fuel injection system and the engine electronics which have been updated by Bosch Engineering Group (BEG). Not only increases its performance to 300 h.p, the 400 Nm are also arranged free at 3,300 revs. Hence, a very smooth torque curve which provides impressive drive in all situations is produced.
The R has been driven on the road, after two days officially opening of the Red Bull Ring in the presence of national and international motorsports personalities. The KTM X-BOW R cost at € 58, 795 excluding national taxes and import duties.
