The Audi’s £25k mid-engined has finally announced for its production in 2014 or 1015, after After chairman Rupert Stadler decided to continue with a plan to share platforms with Porsche and Volkswagen.
According to E-tron Spyder concept, the new sports car project had been concerned on the plan of Audi, Porsche and Volk Wagen. A German media also recently claimed that R4 is positioned on the middle of the established TT. However, the Audi had confirmed that actually the graceful R4 will exist as a significant part of the company’s future sports car program and now it has gets the green light officially.
Claimed by a source to Autocar that although the company is still moving on progress of it the R4 will be ready on sale after the third generation TT. A rumor said that the R4 will follow the TT, performing on its showroom and the R4 will go on sale at the end of 2014. Truthfully, the certainty about the first launch has not been announced yet.
The same styling themes with the R8, the second generation supercar will be shared and inspired by the E-tron Spyder concept. The car will largely use the component sets taken from the Volkswagen Golf with the complex aluminum spaceframe design. It actually will be expensive but it will show the integrity of the engineering.
It also rumored that the third generation Boxter will be share of the front end with the R4 for its important element. Yet, a totally different design found on its rear structure. Two petrol engine still retained but the 2.0 liter cylinder turbocharged engine featuring a new variable can and valve lift contrl system are suggested. It is also said that Quattro GmbH will provide the 2.5 liter five- cylinder powerplant from the RS3 and TT RS to produce the 350 horsepower.
Volkswagen will provide motive power which makes it possible to use the four wheel drive while in conjunction. A standard six-speed manual and a seven-speed S-tronic dual-clutch unit are planned to be mountedon the R4.
