General Motors finally unveiled the official performance and fuel economy numbers of the 2012 Buick Regal GS. While announced the Buick’s sports sedan in production trim on this past January, the GM estimated that the Regal GS will rate at 255 hp and in the given time of no more than 7 seconds the car able to accelerate from the standstill to 60 mph.
The 2012 Buick Regal GS produces 270 hp or 201 kW and 295 lb.-ft. of torque (400Nm) fat 2,400 rpm or an estimated 0-60 mph performance of 6.7 seconds. It means that the car is 0.9 seconds slower than its European sibling, the Opel Insignia OPC which delivers a 325HP V6 and AWD. General Motors said that the Regal GS 2.0 liter direct injected turbocharged four cylinder engine has got SAE certified in delivering such power.
The power of North American model is delivered to trough a six- speed manual gearbox into the front wheels. General Motors claimed that Regal GS able to produce fuel economy of 28 mpg or 8.4 liter/ 100 km on the highway.
The Ecotec global chief engineer and program manager, Mike Anderson stated that Regal GS has the most thick power engine ever certified by SAE, at 135 hp per liter. The Regal GS 2.0L turbo presents the highest specific output of others production engine which has ever offered by GM. While delivering the fuel economy of a four cylinder, the Regal GS is responsive enough and has acceleration of some V6s. the direct injection has been matched with variable valve timing with boosted engines since 2006.
The price of new 2012 Regal GS will be announced near to launch and it estimated will arrive on sale in the United States fall this year.
