2012 Land Rover Defender gets a New EU5 2.2-Liter Diesel Engine

Land Rover announced update details for their latest model, the 2012 Land Rover Defender.
As quoted from the official press release via worldcarfans, John Edwards, Land Rover Global Brand Director said,
“The substantial improvements to the Defender in 2007 transformed its on-road refinement and comfort whilst extending its legendary capability off-road for which Defender is synonymous. With the introduction of the new 2.2-litre diesel engine and two option packs, the Defender for 2012 now offers greater customer choice than ever before,”
2012 Land Rover Defender will be featured the new EU5 2.2L diesel engine with 122 PS (90 kW / 120 hp) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) of torque. Keep your feet on the gas, the car will be reach top speed around 90 mph (145 km/h) and have CO2 emissions of 266 g/km (Defender 90) and 295 g/km (Defender 110 / 130). These new engine replacing the previous one, the EU4 2.4-litre oil-burner found in the 2011 Defender.
The changes in these 2012 model are New EU5 2.2-litre diesel engine with Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF), Two new individual option packs, New plain black pickup hood option. THe new 2 option pack including the Comfort Pack – Air conditioning, CD Player with auxiliary input, electric windows and remote central locking that costs £1650. And the second one, Off-Road Pack – ABS, heavy duty rim and MTR tyre, tow ball and under-ride protection bar with pricing £1500.
The 2012 Defender will be launched later in November in UK with price starts at £20,995.
