Making first debut at 2009 Detroit Auto Show and three years later -which is now, 2011- Cadillac confirmed that the sporty luxury hybrid, 2014 Cadillac Converj Hybrid is planning to enter the production stage. And will hit the road in 2013 (2014 year model) on-road schedule, according to inside information by GreenCarReports
2014 Cadillac Converj will feature a Generation 1.5 Voltec engine.
For your information, The Converj Program was shutdown in early 2010 because of performance concerns, both on the road and in the showroom.. According to Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell, there is “Nothing to be announced” and the program was “not to a point in which development would be occurring in earnest in any case.”
Two reason Cadillac gave about that, as quoted from autoevoltion, The first one was that GM could not make a profit on the low volume sales the Converj had been planned for. The second one was that product planners were concerned that the greater weight and additional luxury features would cut its electric range and performance.
