Audi (TM) is about to unleash their brand new weapon, 2012 Audi R8 LMS Ultra for the motorsport competition. The first Audi R8 LMS GT3 (retired) was first release in 2009 and now Audi announced the 2012 model.
What’s new? the 2012 model featured carbon-fiber reinforced plastic, embedded with high-energy absorbing foam. The result is both lighter weight and improved safety. Not much change for the interior and the 2012 model still powered by a 5.2 liter V10 engine that produce a total of 570 HP (419 kW / 562 hp).
As mention, Compared to previous models, LMS Ultra is a very light weight due to the use of carbon fiber and plastic on the door. Then, the best quality foam also implanted in the door in order to reduce the impact when an accident occurs to minimize driver injury.
Transmission gear ratios were recalculated to suppress fuel consumption without reducing the response of the great power above 570 PS. With so cars do not need to ‘bagging’ more fuel to weight at least be reduced. Change the front rim width from 11 inches to 12 inches. Parties Michelin as a tire supplier has confirmed availability of the required spec tire. Similarly, the cooling of brake and suspension systems are also improved.
Price? starts at €329,900 ($446,050) and first deliveries are scheduled for March 2012.
