2012 seems to be a year yearned by people, especially the VW Beetle lovers. The reason is that it is the year in which there are two big good things dealing with the car. When, one thing, the automaker, Volkswagen, has confirmed to debut the Beetle TDI version in Chicago next week, a tuning company from German, JE Design, is known having prepared an upgrade package for the current model, the Beetle 2.0 TFSI version.
The package offered touches some parts of the car including the exterior and the engine performance. At the exterior, JE Design added an attractive rear apron insert with a diffuser, a centered air duct, and a new steel muffler with a round 90 millimeter large twin exhaust pipe. The exterior upgrade seems to be not so much as we probably imagine because JE Design sees the new 2012 Volkswagen Beetle has had delightful appearance, with its new, more masculine design. With the package, the Beetle TFSi, which was launched last year, runs on new 19-inch alloy multi spoke wheels colored with an exclusive black ‘Tornado’ finish. At the chassis, the aftermarket specialist installs new suspension springs with a progressive characteristic and a sporty spring constant, and a spring kit and lowers the car by around 35 millimeters.
Regarding the performance, Je Design makes a slight change on the Golf GTI’s 2.0-liter TFSI engine under the hood. It gets a reworked ECU that increases the power output from 200 HP to 240 HP with a peak torque from 206 lbs-ft to 228 lbs-ft. It results in a quicker acceleration from 7.5 seconds to 6.9 seconds of 0-60 mph sprint time and a higher top speed from 139 mph to 143 mph. The package is offered with prices of 2,810 Euros for the complete wheels set, 476 Euros for the high quality aerodynamics components such as the apron insert, 952 Euros for the 90mm quad stainless-steel twin exhaust pipe, and 1,280 Euros for the increased power (the ECU).
