The new 2012 Fiat Punto was first presented to public at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Now, as it begins to be distributed across Europe for sale, the Italian automaker has recently just released new photo gallery and a video of the new Punto supermini which comes to European market with some tweaks.
The European customers will have the new Punto with new appearance and updates at its technical stuff. The Punto features body-colored bumpers, new indicators that are repositioned alongside the air intake or beside the grille and different alloy wheel designs, as well as three new metallic colors including Glam Rock Blue, Tip Tap Red and Blues Grey.
More importantly – even likely the most important update, there is an engine addition to the engine range of the Punto, namely a 0.8-liter two-cylinder TwinAir turbocharged gasoline engine, which is Fiat’s award-winning unit that provides output at 85 horsepower. Another update touches the 1.3-liter MultiJet 2 diesel engine that has the same output figure as the former. The engine has been added with two new technologies, the Intelligent Alternator and Intelligent Flow, which take parts in lowering the Co2 emissions of the engine to just 90 grams per kilometer.
There are some other engines that provide power for the Punto from the beginning of its launch. Some of them are the 69 bhp 1.2-liter petrol, 76 bhp 1.4-liter and 104 bhp and 133 bhp turbocharged petrol engines.
Along with the updates mentioned above, the European Fiat Punto also features a new trim level with an exclusive ‘Energetico Green’ color as well as an optionally-offered glossy black roof. On the other hand, the interior does not change so much. It only gets new colors and materials on the seats. The 2012 Fiat Punto is offered with a starting price of £9,990 for the entry-level Pop 1.2-liter model.
