As the 2012 Chicago Auto Show started yesterday on February 8, automakers were showcasing their new and updated vehicle. One of them was GMC with its freshened up-Acadia and Acadia Denali Crossovers for the 2013 model year. The updated Acadias, which will be available starting sometime by the end of 2012, comes to the show with some tweaks including a new exterior look, higher quality material interior and new safety features, as well as the new transmission unit.
At the outside, the new Acadia was seen to sport a new front end as shown on GMC’s recent concept models like Sierra HD All-Terrain. It has a more prominent and upright grille with three-bars. In addition, there are also LED running lamps and new designs at the headlamp and bumper. Tweaks are also given at the rear parts of the car that include the presence of new restyled tail lamps, a re-sculptured bumper, a wrap-around rear glass and a new rear spoiler. Additionally, the 2013MY Acadia also comes with a set of 18-, 19-, and 20-inch wheels. In addition, the interior gets upgraded soft-touch materials with French stitching and a red ambient light flowing across the dashboard, as well as a new infotainment system.
On the other hand, the Acadia Denali, which is the top of the line, gets 20-inch machined wheels, body-colored accents and polished grille outside and interior wood trims, heated/cooled front seats and leather seating inside, among other updates.
The new Acadia is also equipped with the GMC’s new front center air bag system for its improved safety, as well as Side Blind Zone Alert, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and OnStar. In terms of the performance, the Acadie retain using the 288 HP 3.6-liter V6 engine with a towing capacity of 5,000 pounds that now is mated to a new Hydra-Matic 6T70 six-speed automatic transmission that offers better shift response and improved drivability.
