Ferrari Aliante is a concept car from the Italian carmaker. It was one of concepts resulted from the World Design Contest held by the automaker last year. The contest was opened for automotive designers with a hope of a Ferrari of the future. The 2011 contest was participated by 50 automotive design schools the best in the world.
The Aliante, which is a study of an extreme two-seat roadster, is a creative work of IED (Instituto Europeo di Design) Turin students with its trio; Arun Kumar, Daniel Soriano and Magnus Grettve. Although it did not win, the stunning Ferrari Aliante concept managed to make it into the final seven.
The design of the two-seat roadster, which appears eccentric, is inspirited from Ferrari’s Formula One racing cars and the carmaker’s street legal GTs. The Aliante comes with large muscular shoulders creating a sense of angry look and the front fascia which shares similarities with the current 458 Italia from which the elongated LED headlights in the Aliante is inspired. The exterior design of the concept car shouts speed in most parts, from the extremely long, low nose and seamless contoured glass engine cover to the open cockpit and large lateral air intakes, which is also, beside the two former cars, inspired by the mighty Ferrari F40.
At the outside, the Aliante concept sports red body panels nearly wrapping around the cockpit and engine compartment, which is contrasted with the dark surfaces of the center section. It gets two distinctive side air intakes and a large lower lip, accompanying the aerodynamic-driven body surfacing. At the inside, the typically mid-engine sportscar, which is powered by an unspecified hybrid drivertrain, boasts a dust and water proof, durable fabric upholstery that enables the vehicle to be driven in all weather conditions, including the most extreme one.
So far, there is no sign whether Ferrari will make it into production version.
