It is a part of Kia’s planning to enhance its range with a flagship sedan model, most referring to as the K9 while the official name is not yet confirmed. The sketches reveal the design for the all-new range topping sedan.
The new vehicle, which is internally codenamed ‘KH’, is the first company’s vehicle which features rear-wheel drive system. The KH is possibly to borrow the platform architecture cues of Hyundai’s Genesis saloon.
Although there is no information about the engine options yet, the KH is speculated to be offered with the 3.8-liter V66, and 4.6-liter and 5.0-liter V8 power units of the Genesis’.
The new vehicle is designed to be distinctive, modern and classic by the company at the outside and from the renderings it is known that the KH sports eyebrows headlamp and rear styling which are similar to that of the latest car of BMW.
The vehicle also carries over design cues from the Optima and design elements from the large GT concept debuted last year at Frankfurt. It will also be equipped with the pinnacle high-tech technology.
Regarding the new KH, which is expected to sport ‘K9’ name when it goes into production, Kia’s Director of the Overseas Marketing Group, Soon-Nam Lee, said “our all-new flagship sedan integrates all of our key capabilities such as design, performance, high-tech features and infotainment into striking model”. He also added that the new KH showcases the best of Kia and it will become the leading model of Kia’s line-up around the world. According to him, launch timings for overseas markets are not yet confirmed while by June, it will go on sale in the country.
