At the very beginning of 2012, Renault launched its Renault Twingo and now, the automaker has just released the facelifted version of the vehicle. The company now has Renault Twingo R.S and Gordini R.S, which have the same basic styling as the standard Twingo.
The new Twingo R.S was developed by Renaultsport sports a sporting interpretation of the automaker’s new styling identity on its exterior. The vehicle gets a beefier and deeper front bumper than the standard version and boasts an ‘F1-style blade’ which has no F1-esque aerodynamic benefit. Additionally, the vehicle also comes with the addition of a tailgate-mounted spoiler and bumper at the rear into which the rear wheel arch extensions and a diffuser are incorporated.
At the cabin, there are also found new features such as gloss black inserts in the dashboard and the typical Renaultsport yellow stitching with which there are also some other color options including a blue and grey trim – the first time in the Twingo. The Twingo also gets white detailing at the steering wheel, seatbacks, dial surrounds and heater controls.
There seems to be no facelift under the hood. The vehicle retains using the normally-aspirated engine that generates output power of 131 bhp at 6,750 and 160 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The engine of the Twingo R.S emits carbon at 150g/km or 3.2 per cent better than the previous version and consumes fuel at only 43.5 miles per gallon on the combined cycle or boasts an improvement around 3 per cent. The Twingo is fitted to a sport chassis as standard and is offered optionally with a Cup chassis that lowers by 44mm of height.
Regarding the pricing, the Twingo R.S, which will go on sale in mid-March, has not yet been confirmed. However, it is expected that it goes around £13,000. The complete pricing will be revealed sometime by the debut on sale.
